ABOUT ME
Mary Yoest, LMHC
She/Her
My approach to therapy is guided by my training in Existential Phenomenology with Seattle University, a therapeutic orientation focused on the lived experience of the individual as foundational to healing. I view the experience of being a person as holistic, focusing on the connections between the self, others, and the world at large. In session we will examine the meaning making one does throughout one's life and identify how you are an active participant in this process. This mode of therapy is client centered, meaning I do not have a predetermined plan for our sessions. Instead we will work with what you bring to session each time.
I incorporate a combination of approaches into my practice depending on your needs. I most often utilize concepts from humanist psychology, mindfulness, and somatic approaches to foster curiosity and exploration into ones life-world.
As a person with experience living with a mood disorder, I am most drawn to working with those who experience anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and those who have experienced trauma. Together we can explore the wilds of being a human in this world.
